CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
During the weeks of September 21 – October 2, construction crews will be conducting the following activities:

  • Installation of sewer lines on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Chamberlain Street and heading west towards Horne and Pogue Streets;
  • Installation of the utility duct bank on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Logan Court and heading west towards Chamberlain and Horne Streets;
  • Installation of the utilities on Oberlin Road between Hillsborough Street and Pullen Road extension;
  • Installation of water lines on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Logan Court and heading west towards Chamberlain and Horne Streets;
  • Installation of brick sidewalk pavers on the south side on Hillsborough Street starting at Enterprise Street and heading west towards Logan Court and Chamberlain Street;
  • Installation of brick sidewalk pavers on the north side on Hillsborough Street between Oberlin and Pullen Roads;
  • Installation of curb and gutter and paving the south side of Hillsborough Street from Tompkins Hall heading west towards Horne Street; and
  • Grading and preparation of various sites for future construction activities.

Construction crews will be conducting the following night-time construction activities:

  • Installation of sewer lines and service crossing Hillsborough Street from the south side to businesses.

No weekend work is scheduled.

TRAFFIC UPDATE
Vehicles:
 Traffic delays on Hillsborough Street are expected between Oberlin Road and Enterprise Street.

Pedestrians:  Due to construction activities to install the brick sidewalk pavers, the Hillsborough Street entrance to Tompkins Hall will be closed during the two-week period and the entrance to Winston Hall will be closed periodically to safely facilitate project work.

In addition, the north side of Hillsborough Street between Oberlin Road and Maiden Lane will be closed to pedestrian activity as brick pavers are installed.  All through foot traffic will be diverted to the south side of Hillsborough Street, but access to Locopops and Red Hot + Blue will be maintained.
