During the week of July 27 through 31, construction crews will be conducting the following activities:

  • Electrical utility work by Progress Energy at Horne and Gardner Streets;
  • Installation of sewer lines on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Logan Court and heading west towards Chamberlain and Horne Streets;
  • Installation of the utility duct bank on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Enterprise Street and heading west towards Logan Court and Chamberlain Street;
  • Completion of  paving on Pullen Road Extension between Oberlin Road and Hillsborough Street.
  • Installation of water lines on the south side of Hillsborough Street starting at Maiden Lane and heading west towards Enterprise Street and Logan Court;
  • Installation of and brick sidewalk pavers and light pole bases around the Bell Tower on Pullen Road and on Hillsborough Street between Pullen and Oberlin Roads; and
  • Grading and preparation of various sites for future construction activities.

Construction crews will be conducting the following night-time construction activities:

  • Installation of conduit system and duct bank on the north side of Hillsborough at Enterprise Street from Gardner Street to Western Lanes Bowling Alley; and
  • Installation of sewer lines and service crossing Hillsborough Street from the south side to businesses over the course of the next 3 weeks.

Construction work on Pullen Road approaching Hillsborough Street may require detours around the Bell Tower along Watauga Club Drive.  Traffic delays are also expected between Oberlin Road and Enterprise Street due to intense construction activities in the area.

When paving is completed for Pullen Road Extension within the next few weeks, Oberlin Road traffic between Pullen Road Extension and Hillsborough Street will be diverted to the new route so construction activities can occur on Oberlin Road.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
